Slow Stitch is a curated collection of pre-loved clothes which have been lovingly up-cycled using the age-old techniques of mending, patching, hand-embroidery and free-hand machine embroidery.
We only use deadstock fabric, secondhand buttons and recycled threads, meaning that we’re not only saving clothes from landfill but threads, buttons and fabric too.
Our current linear fashion system of 'take, make and dispose' saw £140 million worth of clothing ending up in landfill last year, in the UK alone. With so much waste evident and an estimated £30bn worth of clothes unworn in British closets, a circular fashion system feels inevitable.
The philosophy behind this is that if existing fashion is seen as a valuable resource then the possibilities become endless.
Swap, share or buy second-hand. Mend what you love and covet it. If you no longer use it recycle or on-sell – just keep it in circulation.
